Demonstration Map
Abbie Levesque
This attempt at mapping Thoreau's drawings marks the first step in a bold and speculative venture that seeks to identify Thoreau's trail around Walden Pond and Concord, MA generally. By closely reading his Journal for clues as to names of places and other geographically identifiable markers, we can potentially begin to start identifying where Thoreau was on a certain day and begin charting his walks in this area. At present, the locations indicated on this map consists of fictional latitude and longitude coordinates that we've used to see how our mapping system works on this website. However, over time and through fruitful collaborations, we hope to gather accurate data to begin mapping Thoreau's explorations.
